The problem
Step coaching is exactly the kind of feature that quietly ships your health context to a cloud model.
The constraint
Inference and the activity and health context it reads have to stay on the device, and the app still has to behave when the model returns something unusable.
The approach
HealthKit and the pedometer feed on-device Apple Foundation Models for insights, a coach and generated training plans, each with deterministic localised fallbacks, plus a watchOS companion, widgets, wheelchair mode and VoiceOver.
The outcome
Only purchase and entitlement data leaves the phone. The AI never does.
